Thanks so much to everyone who came and help us out with Date Night this last Saturday!  We had 34 kids to watch, and we couldn’t have pulled it off without help from the nearly 20 of you who came out to help.   We raised more than $500 this weekend, which puts us more than 50% of the way to our goal.

Again, you’re all awesome; thanks for helping to make it a great night.  Our next fundraiser is an after-church brunch in Fellowship Hall on March 4th, so look for info on that coming soon.  Again, you’re all awesome; thanks for helping to make it a great night!

Reminder: No CrossRoads 2nite

Just a reminder that there’s no Jr. High program tonight, so you can all prepare yourselves for the fundraising madness that’s scheduled for tomorrow.   Again, we’re expecting a lot of kids, so if you can help us out during Date Night, it’s definitely appreciated.

Hope to see you all then.  Enjoy your Friday nights!

Date Night Details

Posted by David on February 8, 2012
Posted in: Uncategorized. Leave a Comment

To All Interested in the CHIC Fundraiser this Saturday,

I advertised our Date Night fundraiser with the Child Care Center, and Jill Ravensborg let me know they’ve had a bunch of interest.  So, to keep us from getting caught off guard this Saturday, I’ve included a preliminary “To Do List”.  It probably leaves out something important, so feel free to tell me what I need to add.
What I need now are parents willing to supervise the teen-aged babysitters, to keep the train on the rails when things get busy.  If you can be a part of this Supervisory Squad, please let me know.
In anticipation of a lot of children, I’m planning on having Fellowship divided into a Games Area on one side and a Craft Area.  I’m also going to set up the Youth Group Room for some G-rated movies.  We can, if we need to, open up the nursery for infants/toddlers.
All of this means we’re going to need help with these things:

To Do:

  1. Make a Sign-in sheet:
    • Kids name
    • Parents name
    • Allergies
    • Medical conditions we should know about
    • Who is picking the child up
    • Emergency Contact Numbers
    • Estimated Pick-up time
  2. Make up name tags for the kids
  3. Craft idea
  4. Games idea
  5. Set up YG room for a movie
  6. Set up Nursery
  7. Pull out partition in F.H.
  8. Food
    • Snack ideas and shopping
    • Dinner idea and shopping
  9. Get a head-count of volunteers
    • Students
    • Parents
  10.  Whatever I’m missing…

Thanks for the help, to all you who will be lending a hand.  Let me know if there are specific items you’d be willing to take care of.

David

Come one and all, all you who are looking to attend CHIC this summer, and help us raise some funds this Saturday.  With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, we’re going to give parents of the world the chance to experience the rare and once-thought-to-be-extinct Date Night.

Parents can drop their kids off in Fellowship Hall from 5pm – 9:30pm.  There, their children will run and play, while their parents can..well, run and play, I guess.

Volunteers should show up at 4:30 to help set up.  We should be ready to go home by 10pm.  In the meantime, volunteers get to play, burp, feed, and otherwise entertain the young ones until their parents return… Please email Dave if you think you can be there, or if you have any questions.

Just a reminder that there’s no CrossRoads tonight.  My lovely wife and I are visiting family in Chicago, so we will resume things next week.  Hope you all had a great holiday season.  Time to pack those ugly sweaters away for another 10 months.

See You Soon,

Dave

Pageant Practice 2Moro!

Posted by David on December 16, 2011
Posted in: Informational. Tagged: Christmas, Pageant, Rehearsal. Leave a Comment

Greetings Friends,

As promised this email contains all (or hopefully all) the last-minute Christmas Pageant details.  Saturday is our dress rehearsal from 9:30-11:30am, we plan to match children up with their costumes and run through the program twice.  Please note the bold items below:
- Children in preschool and Kindergarten or our “sheep” in the pageant do not have to be at the dress Rehearsal till 10:30am on Saturday morning.

- Children do not need to wear their pageant clothing to the dress rehearsal, save it for Sunday morning.

- On Sunday morning, those who are sheep should wear white, we have sheep hats for them, angels should also wear white under their angel costumes, girls feel free to wear a skirt to church to wear until you get your costume on.  Chief priests and teachers, shepherds, Mary, and Joseph need not worry what they wear under their costumes as they will be pretty well covered.  Please arrive promptly at 9:30 Sunday morning.

-Parents if you are available to help on Saturday morning during rehearsal or on Sunday morning let me know and we’ll plug you in.

Finally, please join me in thanking Cindy Bergstrom for all her work writing the pageant, organizing cast and rehearsals, and passion in general for the children and music.  She has been a huge blessing to me in guiding me through my first pageant here at Bethlehem.  Thank you Cindy!

If you have any questions or concerns please direct them to me via email or phone, my cell number is (952) 818-1646.  I look forward to a great Christmas Pageant!
Blessings this advent season,

Pastor Derek

Just a reminder that the first of our CHIC 2012 fundraisers is tomorrow night!  We’ll be serving up insane amounts of delicious pasta in Fellowship Hall, from 6-8pm.  Please come, please bring your rich friends, and help us on our way to Knoxville, Tennessee.
We need help cooking and setting up beforehand, so if you’re able to show up as early as 4pm, we’d love to have you.  Let me know if that’s something you can do, so I know just how many people to expect.  As always, let me know any questions you’ve got.

CrossRoads Cancelled for Tonight

Posted by David on November 11, 2011
Posted in: Uncategorized. Leave a Comment

Due to the sneezing/coughing/fever combo that I have been sporting for the last couple days, I’m unfortunately cancelling CrossRoads for this evening.  You’re probably thinking “tough it up, whiner!”   And if I weren’t so comfortable under these 7 blankets, nursing a bowl of chicken soup, and watching The Princess Bride, I’d probably take your advice.

Hope you all have a great weekend.  I’ll definitely see you on Sunday.  Probably.  90% chance.

-Dave

Hey all you 6th-to- 8th-graders!  It’s been a crazy month, with the Confirmation Retreat, the All-Church retreat, and the MEA Retreat.  All that weekend activity has cut into our Friday night CrossRoads time a bit.  But tomorrow we’re back in full force.  So come as you are, bring your friends, and get ready to have an awesome Friday night at church!

House of Bread Planning Team: Tomorrow!

Posted by David on October 18, 2011
Posted in: Informational, Upcoming Events. Tagged: House of Bread. Leave a Comment

Some of you receiving this message are parents (because I don’t have your child’s e-mail address), but I want to get the word out to as many of our middle and high school students as possible (and at least one college student – you know who you are!) that we are planning another House of Bread worship time for Sunday, November 20 (right before Thanksgiving). I invite all of you to join in the planning for this service, and some of you may be involved in leading the service, too!  We will focus on the three parables in Luke 15 (the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son) and we need your help choosing music and putting the service together.  If you want to join us, please come to the Choir room THIS WEDNESDAY (yes, that is tomorrow!) at 4:30 pm so we can get the ball rolling.  Please reply to this message (or have your child reply to this message, if you are a parent) to let me know if you can come. Bring your ideas!  Bring friends!  The more, the merrier!

Looking forward…..

Peace,

Pastor Jo Anne
