New and important details regarding CHIC 2012 are now up on the Six12 website!  Departure times, travel plans, sleeping arrangements, who gets which circus animal, etc. — all this and more can be found by clicking HERE!

Some of these finer points are subject to change, but this should provide parents and students with a comfortable outline as we’re about 6 weeks out from CHIC 2012.  All you questions are available for answering; just drop Dave a line (david at bethlehemcov dot org).  Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Get Your Brunch On

Lots of these emails begin with “Just a reminder that…”  Today is no different!  This is just a reminder that the annual Confirmation Brunch is this Saturday morning, from 9am to 11am in Fellowship Hall.

For those who aren’t familiar, the Confirmation Brunch is put on every year by the families of the first year confirmands.  It’s a great way for us to congratulate the graduating confirmands on all their long hours of hard work.  Plus: breakfast!

If you’re going to be with us this Saturday, please RSVP with the Church Office (612-721-5768, office@bethlehemcov.org).  Because no one wants us to run out of coffee.  As always, contact Dave with any questions.  Hope to see you there!

Silent Auction this Sunday!

Our annual Silent Auction approaches!  After worship this Sunday, we’ll fill Fellowship Hall with dozens of items up for bid.  Mill about, have a gander… and the furiously try to outbid anyone who gets in your way!  All proceeds go towards our trip to CHIC2012 this coming July.

If you’re a High School Student (or the loving parent of one), we need you!  We’ll be setting up before the Worship Service, and need you to help us as the Auction goes on.  Let Dave know if you don’t think you can make it, since we’re trying to get a decent head count.

You can donate items for the Auction any time before the start of the auction; just drop your item off in the Church Office.  As always, call/email Dave with any thoughts of questions.  Thanks for your support, and we hope to see you then!

Pre-Easter (Preaster?) Details

Thanks to those of you who have already helped out so much on planning the Easter Brunch this year (Linda and Anne for planning, The Fongs for doing all that shopping)!

For the rest of us, there is still plenty to do!  We’ve broken the work into 2 shifts on Easter Morning, so that everyone can get to an Easter Service on Sunday morning.  

  • The first shift will cover setup, prep work and serving.  They’ll show up at 8am and work until the 11AM service.
  • The second shift will begin at 10AM, when the first service is finished.  They’ll help with serving, clean-up, and taking down the tables afterwards.  

This should ensure no one gets over-worked, and everyone gets a seat in a pew at some point.  If you’re not sure which shift to show up for, or know you need to be assigned to a particular shift, let Dave know ASAP.  {david at bethlehemcov dot org}  That’s all for now.  See you all soon!

(another) Movie Night

Hey, we’ll stop having movie nights when they stop making movies we haven’t seen.  Until then, we gather around screens and popcorn like depression-era bums around a barrel fire, heating our freezing hands in the warm glow of Whatever Pixar Released this Week.  So drop by and join us.  6pm tonight until the closing credits toss us back into the real world.

Sweet Sunday Brunch Success

Thanks to all of you who helped out last Sunday at our CHIC Brunch Fundraiser!  We had more than 70 people through Fellowship Hall, fed most of them, and all without actually cooking a single thing.  Oh, and we raised more than $1,200 dollars!  It was also awesome to get to meet the Pope family.  Sarah Pope will be joining us on our journey to Tennessee this summer, and we’re stoked to have her along for the ride!  Also awesome on Sunday was the Fong family, who did all our shopping for us; we definitely appreciated that.  

Remember gang: these things don’t come together by accident (very often), so pat yourself on the back, and think of ways to repeat the performance, because our Easter Brunch Fundraiser is a scant 33 days away!

Just a friendly reminder that we’re hosting a little after-church brunch this Sunday, in Fellowship hall!  It’s everything you love about breakfast, mixed with everything you love about lunch.  It’s a genius idea, and it might even help raise us some money for CHIC this Summer!  If you’re hungry, you should join us after worship.   And if you’re a high school student, you should show up to help us raise you money!  Contact Dave with any question.  Hope to see you all there!

Ice Skating (Or Ice Falling/Embarrassing Yourself)

For all of you with wool caps and an excellent sense of balance, we’ll be ice skating at Longfellow Park this Friday night, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.  Skating is free, and so are the skate rentals for those of us without our own skates.

Also, there’s a warming house for anyone not born in Minnesota.  Again: it’s free, so pack on the long johns and bring your friends.   It’s gonna be a great night of slipping and falling over in front of total strangers.  Email Dave with any questions.

Thanks so much to everyone who came and help us out with Date Night this last Saturday!  We had 34 kids to watch, and we couldn’t have pulled it off without help from the nearly 20 of you who came out to help.   We raised more than $500 this weekend, which puts us more than 50% of the way to our goal.

Again, you’re all awesome; thanks for helping to make it a great night.  Our next fundraiser is an after-church brunch in Fellowship Hall on March 4th, so look for info on that coming soon.  Again, you’re all awesome; thanks for helping to make it a great night!
